Crisis Intervention

Calcot Services for Children are proud to announce the opening of our Crisis Intervention short term service for children and young people aged 5-18 at The Lodge.

Our intention is to nurture talents and interests in an activity based programme in environmentally aware and sustainable surroundings.

We will provide emotional support and therapeutic care, including unique activities and opportunities to develop and grow from crisis situations.

At The Lodge we approach crisis and emergency situations by offering young people the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities, establishing a conscientious outlook through hands on experience of thoughtful and creative living.

  • Support the development of entrepreneurial skills.
  • Provide outstanding outcomes which are fully achieved by this group of disadvantaged and traumatised children and young people.
  • Support the children to develop a positive self-view and emotional resilience, whilst providing a positive experience which will carry them into the future, creating opportunity and exceptional progress into adult life.
  • Guide them through their childhood with the involvement of therapy and self-esteem building activities which have been proven to have positive effects post-trauma.
  • Encourage education on an individual basis, to suit the children’s specific skill sets and learning styles whilst still working alongside the national curriculum.
  • Deter negative behaviour and promote health through an activity based and therapeutic programme for each child.
  •  Provide an innovative array of potential options that cater for the individual children. Creating tailored placement plans with the child to accentuate their strengths through a stimulating and sustainable environment. Nurturing talents and encouraging passions to work towards a stable outcome and emotional recovery.
  • Provide a service that notices the issues in the current system regarding outcomes and stable placements, and knows methods of combatting this, through an experienced and dedicated team.

The Crisis Intervention programme aims to provide children with exceptional outcomes during their stay in our outdoor therapeutic environment.  It will enable young people to engage in modern society in a mindful and self-aware manner.

In all our homes and in particularly at The Lodge, CSfC works with young people to develop skills and hope when they have struggled with mainstream expectations due to past trauma and abuse, encouraging them to move forward into their adult lives with memories and emotions of achievement, relationship building, support and encouragement during their activity intervention.

CSfC believes in nurturing talents and encouraging passions to work towards a stable outcomes and emotional recovery.

CSfC use child centred approaches at the core of their work. Children play an active part in planning their care journey, aims, objectives and outcomes.  Young people will be learning practical skills along the way, as well as recognising some of the environmental issues facing future generations, and developing knowledge and skills to live in a sustainable way with minimal impact to their environment.

We believe that educating the children in sustainability, horticulture, and the management of plants and animals, such as chickens will help therapeutically, as well as provide opportunities to learn entrepreneurial skills (i.e., selling eggs/vegetables etc.), and give children a sense of pride, achievement and satisfaction.

Young people have their achievements recognised and celebrated by the adults caring for them throughout their stay at The Lodge.

The crisis intervention program included the following:

  • Forest/ country/ coastal walks
  • Sailing/wind surfing/kite surfing
  • Horse-riding
  • Farm trips
  • Fishing trips
  • Live music trips
  • Climbing/caving
  • Sports
  • Orienteering
  • High ropes
  • Kayaking
  • Arts and crafts

The location is nationwide as we book activity centres, hire caravans, boat barges, windmills and more.
